Computer malfunction, Basketball, Birthdays and much more...

What a weekend. Friday night our computer died after I tried to save it. A few hours of trying to reload windows it wouldn't work and we lost our pictures we had not uploaded or saved off line. Lots of memories all now gone. So that pissed me off a little but I just cleaned everything and started from almost scratch. It's now working fine but lesson learnt. Do not load an Anti-Virus that makes false positives.

Before the above I went to play basketball on Saturday and we beat a good team. True it was only by 2 points in the end but a win none the less. I played ok. Not great but did my bit in helping out. The other team spoke Cantonese and my wife told me they called me “Big Guy”. I thought a couple of their guys were bigger then me. "I'm not fat I'm big boned." hehe

After basketball that night we went to our Mum’s for Wen’s birthday dinner. It was good as always. But Mum didn’t make cake for her. A birthday with no cake? So Sunday after shopping we cooked a “Really Good Chocolate Cake” from Greens company. It was good but really good if I didn’t over cook it. At least we had cake for Wen’s birthday.

Monday was Wen’s Birthday. Happy Birthday laopo. I took the day off. It was good to spend the day with her as always.

First Game Back

Today I played my first game of Basketball in more then 2 months. After I got the fever I wasn't able to play the rest of last season. Today to say the least I was a bit rusty. I may have got my first rebound in a few seconds but helped 2 seconds later with my first pass being a turnover. I did get a bit better but didn't score in the first half but rebounded and passed well.

We had a few incidents in the first half with an umpire and played the second half on another court and with a different umpire. To say the least you can look at the different scores to tell the difference that made. At half time we were losing 26 to 23. Then at the end of the game won 53 to 71. I did score in the second half only one shot and a free throw as I didn't shoot well but was glad I was still able to rebound and pass most of the time. I was also happy I didn't feel too bad after the game. I wasn't sore or short of breath so that gives me more confidence to play a little harder next week. It was good to be back out on the court again.

Our first wedding anniversary -我爱你老婆

Today is my first wedding anniversary. It has been a great year since that faith full day we wed. We had a busy day getting all that we could done before I have to work again. Today we got hair cuts. See photo on this site. Also Ma gave us a gift of wood. She thought it was our 5 anniversary I think.

Tomorrow I have to work late. But have taken another day off on Friday while Wen is on Holidays from Class. Last Friday was 9 Years in Local Government so next year I get my long service leave.

Saturday we had lunch with the 2 Hong Kong girls in my office. I think I said too much. I need to learn when to shut up and just listen. But dim sim was good. Sunday was a trip to Mum's for Robs birthday lunch. Wasn't really great. Food was ok but could have done with out the kids playing ball over the table. I hope our kids learn manners and not to do that.

Just for my loving and caring wife on this day of days. 我好好好爱你老婆。你是我为一。

NBA Draft Day

Today is the Draft day for the NBA.  Players who would like to play in the NBA get picked by the team in the draft.  This morning Yi was traded to New Jersey where I'm sure he will be more happier then in Milwaukie.  New Jersey in near New York so Yi should be pleased with the extra market coverage.  I wish him the best.

I've always liked draft day.  It's interesting to watch which team picks who to play for them.  Players who think they are worth more then they are get reality checks and it is always interesting to see a player everyone says in a great pick at that spot fail in the NBA.  It is really the most high pressure situation any of the non playing personal have all year.  You make the wrong pick.  People will remember you for it.

This NBA summer will be interesting to see what the Rockets do.  After another 1st round exit they have to move (trade) some players.  Or risk the same fate.  Here is the question.  Who will play in the second round first?  Yao or Yi?

Glandular fever - Infectious mononucleosis

Well by Saturday it will have been 3 weeks I've felt like crap. Last week spent 4 days in hospital for them to work out what was wrong with me. No one will gave me any strait answers (not even the internet). Just can't do anything for you go home and stay way from people. This week has been better. Still not great but not really bad either. At lease I am catch up on my playstation.

My wife has been unbelieveable while I have been sick. She is the best. Thank you lao po.

Sickness becomes me

Today is Thursday and I have been sick almost bed ridden since Saturday. I was so pissed off. We needed to do so much the Monday I had off but after I was so sick we did do the half of it. That makes me feel worse. I earned that day off and now I lost it. I hate that and I really mean HATE that.

Work pissed me off last week saying I have to fix up someone elses problems at a time I should be only doing my work as it is only the most important thing I do every 3 years. Well if it stuffs up I'm not going to fix it. They can stop being such money hungry assholes.

I am sick and tired of hearing about Shenzhen and the earthquake. That crap is now in my dreams. They make you feel so bad watch Chinese TV. While we are talking about Chinese TV. Go back to regular shows dam it. The last 3 days in China no one can watch any TV or use the internet (other then to chat). The only shit up see or hear is about Shenzhen. I know this sounds harsh and I do wish all the best for the people affected just.... Let the rest of us get on with our lives.

I'm tired and going to go ley down again. Don't know how I'm suppose to work tomorrow. Thanks Doc couldn't just give me the Friday as well.

West Coast College of Tafe is the worst

Today my wife who goes to West Coast college of Tafe in the City was told she could no longer study there so they could get new students to do the Certificate IV in Spoken and Written English course. Earlier this term she was told she wasn't allowed to catch up with the class she was put in because she wasn't enrolled in the earlier classes beofre she started that class she was told she could. Now she has to leave the school with out the Cert 4 she need to get in to tafe/Uni.

West Coast College of TAFE is the worst if you are a new immigrant do not enroll. Go to Central TAFE or somewhere else. It is my opinion they are only after money and have no interest in teaching anyone.

Will petrol (Fuel) pricing itself out of the automotive Industry?

Now days almost every week we the consumer are hit with higher fuel (petrol) prices. I for one sold my old car a couple of years ago. Luckly. I reduced my car from a 6 cilinder to a 4 cilinder. I went on to save more then half my fuel cost even with rasing oil cost in the first year.

Now days as fuel prices continue to rise we see more new electric cars being released. I have seen there specs on some webpages. Where there top speed is not much for the cheaper ones as time goes on that technology will get better and cheaper eventually replacing fuel cars. With fuel (oil) prices rising to as they say to $2+ per L in Australia. That's more the 3-4 time the value 2 years ago. It would be more benefit to buy a full electric car no matter the cost of electricity or the inital base cost of the car. Over time maybe even the first year you would benefit financially. Why drive a fuel car and pay the old company the billions of dollars profits? When you can drive a electric car a shove it up the oil companys asses?

Further to the people who say why not change over to the bio-diesel? These fuels why good on the surface may actually be helpful if and only if they aren't being made at the expence of food crops. From the latest reports all over the world since these fuels have become popular and used more mixed in with normal fuel the world food prices ahve drastically increased and now to the point where there is food shortages in many contries all over the world. We need to find a balace between the 2. This is not currently being met and bio diesel crops should be stopped till after food prices and levels and sustainable. I say stop these diesel fuels and stop the killings.

Another weekend another loss

On Saturday we played basketball again and lost big. Something like 112 to 45. After hurting my knee 2 weeks ago it held up ok. Most of the game it was all right but at times I could feel a little pain. I couldn't jump too high but that didn't matter as the other team was full of young fit men who could run.
Our team also only had 4 so that didn't help much but even with a 5th it would have made much difference. They basically won with 60-70% of there points from fastbreaks. We did alright with 45 considering how bad we shot. Next week we won't be playing the best team so we should do better and should have more then 4 players. Hopefully I have good news.

Like sands in the hour glass these are the days of our lives. :P

Ok those who know me know I'm not a huge fan of my work. But here is the update as there is a bit going on. Wheather it is good or bad is yet to be seen.

First of all my most major accomplishment of the last few weeks is I managed to get management to buy a new folding machine. Now we already had one but it was loud and you still had to stuff envelope for 12 hours after you finish folding. I can happy say I got them to agree to buy one that does the lot. Why am I so happy. Over the last 6 years I've worked here I realised everytime we did a big mail out. My back killed me for weeks after. Why? Because the stuffing hundreds to thousands of letters in envelopes requires me to look down at the desk all day hurting my neck and upper back. No more back problems if I stay here long term. Sorry I know I'm a bit excited about a folding machine.

Second the guy who sits next to me is leaving on June 13. Yes Friday June 13. They already advertised that job and had 10 people apply. That means if they do it right they should have a new person here before the last one leaves. First time since I've worked here.

Thirdly this week they had a new coffee Machine arrive. No one know how to use it but a few people look happer. I don't drink coffee so I don't care too much about that.

Today I got my biggest work load information that I get every 3 years. It don't look good for Vacant land owners in the City of South Perth who's rates will sky rocket. Just hope they don't blame me. I didn't do it to you. Get over it.

On a personal note since losing out first basketball game a few weeks back we lost again. Seems I have lost it. But will try regain it this week after missing last week with a knee injury.

Finally I have to say the speech our Preast gave on the weekend was great. He really gave it to the Oprah Fans with a speech on self control over self fulfillment. Loved it. Good work Father Phil.

Not as good as I use to be

Now you all know I love my basketball. Maybe too much. This weekend our team lost for the first time in like 3 years. This capped off by the 1 point 1 win last week while I sat on the bench as the rest of the team won. I have to ask what happened? Could the other teams have gotten that much better? Or have I/we lost it? We use to win by 20+ per game.

It's well know for any sports player to think of themself better then they actually are. You hit one shot at the end of the game that high can be better then any drug. But... and there it is the but... It doen't mean anything when you play next week. Maybe one day I'll be like the guy in the Bruce Springfield song Glory days talking about how good I was when. By are we ever really ever that good?

I guess we will find out next week when we try again. Maybe it was cobwebs from not playing or excercising for the last 3 months or maybe I'm getting old and can't play like I use too 2-3 years ago? I played a second game right after that one but I was too tired to play. I really shouldn't have stayed and played.

This week has been interesting. Saturday I played my first game of basketball in 4 months. It wasn't as bad as I though but I got through it. Our team one in the last few seconds by 1 point. No help from me on the sidelines. I should be ready to play better next week.

Back at work Monday the guy who sits next to me come in and says he wants to talk. This would be a problem but he was away the last week on holiday in Melbourne. He tells me he is moving there and will be leaving in a couple of months. Now this is mixed new for me as it could be good or bad given how it works out. Only time will tell. This is added to the mass exodus of this place. Last week 3 people left on Friday. Monday the IT manager walked out and Today is the last day of the new records team leader. Now this guy next to me is leaving and some others over the next few months I'm thinking "Do I smell that bad????"

Now that Easter has gone. I have to say how sad Perth really is. I mean on Easter weekend. You could go to a small shop or nothing. It is so wrong. I went to the City with my wife as she wanted to meet her friend on Easter Monday. That was all good and all but what disterbed me most was the number of people from all other places in the world stunned that nothing but a tourst shop was open. I mean nothing. It is really a sad reflection on this state. No wonder people don't return here to holiday. No wonder Perth is rated one of the 2 worst places to work. Basically Easter sucks because free enterprise is not allowed. I love China's middle of the night Chinese New Year and you can still go shopping. Bring it on.

Thankfully I might not be so pissed off in a couple of weeks as we don't have to get up that f&%%en hour earlier. Come on Sunday 1 hour more sleep. Yay. Don't have to change the clocks because I refuse to to start with.

Finally who blog's on MSN anymore? Seriously no-one I know does anymore. Heck I sure most people don't even read these things anymore. Except my lovely wife. xie xie lao po

George Forman Lean Mean Fat Gilling Machine

On Saturday the Misses and I bought a George Forman Lean Mean Fat Gilling Machine Family size and dam I was impressed. It's like a BBQ inside the house and 100 times quicker. Good call from the wife. Also she had a good find in the kitchen as well. We have been looking for a soup cooking pot and she found not 1 but 2 under the sink. Really should look under the sink more often.

Why my computer still crashes even though it's 10000 times bigger.

Ok. Sorry I know I'm complaining alot but this one needs to be said. It might be the heat talking or the lack of sleep or just me but why the fu$# does my computer crash now days?

Let me break it down for you. I started using a computer so long ago I can't remember my life without one. I was good at using them so my family and everyone wanted me to always help them out. Even back then no matter how basic the system, graphics or anything they crash less often then todays computers.

Now I must admit even about 10 years ago when I started working it took 30 minutes for the work computer to start to the point you could put in your password but now days softwear companys just FU$# ME OFF. (Replace $# with CK). Each year they force us to buy the latest products or use older technology.

EG. No I haven't used it by VISTA gets rave reviews for being the worst OS system out. Why? Because you need the best computer out to run it and it's FU$%en HUGE. New generation technology should be better then the last. Now days they softwear is FU$%ed. No matter it be a new game or OS they are all the same. You need the best hardwear to run it. Then get this. It still crashes. Even running it at the lowest possible setting it still crashes. That's because the FU$#en softwear companys put so much promo crap in there softwear that it fu$#s the program up. For FU$# sake get it right first then if there is space add your other shit.

So let me just show you. I remember buying a 80 megabyte HD 56MB ram PC years ago with something like Win 95. It and the MS office at that time and other shit I had on the PC only added up to about 40-60 Megabytes. Now I have a 80 Gigabyte HD and 512 MB RAM and Win XP and MS Office and basically 2000 versions of 1990 versions I had take up about 55 Gig. And the programs aren't that mush better other then mostly graphic. If only I could use an older OS and softwear on the new PC could you imagine how mush faster and better it would run.

All I'm saying is this should get better and fast not bigger and more a pain in the ass. Simplify and cut the crap. Actually offer the crap as something else if you want just make your basic program small and uncrashable first on the Minimum requirement before you finish your product.

Sorry had to get that off mu chest. My spelling sucks today. :P

Skins, Kings women and

Last night for the second time I saw a show on TV called Skins. It's on SBS sometime.... Sorry with daylight savings now I couldn't tell you. It's not a bad show. A bit unrealistic but not bad. It's about some school kids I suppose growing up in the modern world. Now in my experience. Even the most hardened in my public school could still recite what was on TV the night before. Not that I'm expecting realism but I guess a show about kids watching TV wouldn't get many ratings.

Also on the TV at night at the moment is a show called "Kings women". It's on late night on the korean TV station. I really like it. Even though it is in Korean (but lucky for me and the misses has English and Chinese subtitles) and set in some glory time of Korea. It's been very compelling. Only problem is it only goes for 30 mins a day and it shits me it stops so soon. It's like it just started to get going then that's it for the day. I guess it keeps us watch the next night.

Outside of my busy TV schedule. I've been feeling the need to play ball again. I haven't played Basketball since the Grand final of our Saturday compertition. Only thing is I need to find a good game and hope I can still play. Maybe I'll just go to the park and have a shoot around just to get that old feeling again.

Our new TV's too big for my room.

OK after a good month looking we finally just decided to go and buy it. Now if you ever look for a 40-42" Television there is a boat load of choices. Just learning what different things they have took me a week. I believe we made a good choice in the end. We bought a Samsung 40" HD LCD TV. The set up was so easy and it looks good and works great so far.

We were going towards a Plasma but if it's true what they say they now last as long as LCD's the manufacturers would give a warrenty the same as LCD's (Plasma's 1 year and LCD 3 years). Plus the LCD will be better to connect to our computer/games console and some other little things like that. Only thing is it is quite a bit bigger then the old TV we had in the bedroom. But as far as the TV itself I'm happy with it. We also got it a low prace during the after Christmas Sales so was very happy with that. Played a DVD on it the other day and my wife was very impressed. Like a little Movie theater in our bedroom.
